  the article in the feb 15th wt really got up my nose.

  the year book of 1974 page 212 is copied below - emphasis mine.

  how does this compare with the feb 15th 2004 watchtower last paragraph page 6 continuing to page 7?

  Generally, Witness Friends are no Prize

  in general, after nearly forty years in the "truth", i conclude that most witnesses are no prize as friends.. there are several reasons why:.

  their "love" is often very conditional and qualified - sort of a "i'll be your friend as long as you count time and attend meetings" situation.. they are often so busy with theocratic busywork ( field service, meetings) that they have little time left for anything .

  creative or interesting, like a real hobby.

  A well respected expert in de-programing cult members(did a lot of work with ex-moonies) said to me of the Jw's "they are a merciless bunch" Is not that the truth of theses people in general? They would kick your butt, to save theirs. It is unnatural to break family ties and friendships over religion. Religion is to "minister" to the needs of its flock. Jw's minister to an organization of old control freaks.

  of the posts...i see a very sad and common theme of extreme depression and loneliness.

  My ex-wife got an unscriptural divorce,backed by the eldes dubs. They threw the Family Book at me, $%@holes

  When I began to pursue another relationship they d'fed me.

  Happily remarried with a 4 month old baby boy.

  You can get a divorce with the dubs, but not remmarried. Explain that one to a lawyer.

  in a minimus moment, i find myself interested in knowing which buzz-words and phrases in jw publications stand out the most to you?

  when i read wt literature, i constantly find myself astounded by how transparently cultish the language is.

  What Regrets Did You Have Because You Were A Witness?

  one of the biggest regrets a person might have is that they let their children become involved in the whole jw "thing".

  you know---everything from the elders always cornering them to "investigate" something or even having the parents "turn in" their own kids......is there anything that you especially regret?

  Overseer Visits

  what the hell is the big deal about the circuit overseer's visit?

  why does everyone have to drag their bible students and in active friends and family members to the meeting during that week?.

  Were Most Of The Elders "On The Ball" In Your Congregation?

  i think most of the elders relied on the "smart ones" to help them out.

  my experience was that there was probably 2 or 3 "sharp ones".

  the rest were dopey!

  There were 4 elders when I left. Thet were really a sharp bunch. Their names were, sleepy, grumpy, dopey, and lazy.
